PaleyFest 2019

It’s that time of year, the time when all PaleyFest fans can get excited. Of course, television is all about what happens next and to which characters. That anticipation is part of why we love the small screen so much. We feel that same anticipation every year with PaleyFest as we anxiously await the lineup of panels to take place at Hollywood’s Dolby Theater. The first three PaleyFest 2019 panels were announced last year by the Paley Center for the 36th annual event: Pose from FX, This Is Us from NBC, and a Parks and Recreation cast reunion for the popular Peak sitcom’s 10th anniversary. And now the full lineup has been revealed.

Second panel for This Is Us

This will be the second PaleyFest appearance for This Is Us since its 2017 freshman season. Pose, the rookie drama, will feature members of the cast of transgender actors. Parks and Recreation will be reuniting at the event, featuring the entire cast and creative team, for the series that launched on April 9, 10 years earlier. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin will appear in a two-panel event to celebrate their upcoming final seasons. The festival will also include a panel for three procedural reboots from Peter M Lenkov: Magnum, P.I., MacGyver, and Hawaii Five-O.

A marvellous first panel

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will be the first television show under the spotlight at the 2019 PaleyFest festival taking place in Hollywood, California. The show will open the event just days before shooting commences on the third season. The cast, along with the creative team from the period comedy from Amazon, will head over to the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard on Marc 15. The lengthy and diverse selection of panels and screenings also feature Evening with Stephen Colbert, and Grace and Frankie from Netflix, on March 16, and 9-1-1 from Fox and RuPaul’s Drag Race from VH1 on March 17.

Part of the purpose of PaleyFest is to benefit the Paley Center’s efforts to preserve and archive its digitised media, as well as to support its ongoing mission to investigate the effect that media has on society and culture.

The Paley Center

The Paley Centre houses the U.S.’s largest archive of radio and television content accessible by the public, with more than 160,000 programmes from media’s lengthy history, which includes collections that celebrate achievements in the small screen from women, LGBTQ+ communities, Hispanic, Africa-American communities, and more recently, music.

Where and when and who

JetBlue will once again be the festival’s official airline, with Citi returning as the event’s official card. PlayFest 2019 will take place on March 15-24. Paley Centre and Citi cardmembers supporting, patron and fellow members can buy tickets before they officially go on sale. Tickets will be available to individual members of the Paley Centre on Jan 17 and to the general public on Jan 18. The festival is now its 35th year. The panels feature cast and creative teams on stage answering your questions so if you like the idea of posing a question to your favourite TV stars, then this is your chance.
